Neil Patrick Harris for being a fantastic host!! Last year, with Ellen hosting, was disappointing and the year before with Seth MacFarlane was alright but it fell flat because he has a different king of humor. Although The Academy received a lot of grief for trying to copy the Tony's (I will admit that I wasn't happy about NPH at first) I think it paid off!
He did a fantastic job! Yes the jokes about Oprah and the Annie remakes didn't go over so well. But the joke about the lady with the balls on her dress was hilarious, just poorly timed considering she was talking about her sons suicide. But it's NPH's job to keep the mood up! Okay also the bit at the end of the show with his "predictions" was too cheesy for me. But overall it was still an enjoyable show! The opening musical number was excellent! But of course that's pretty much expected from NPH. His Best Picture nominee movie references were funny and I'm pretty sure the show actually ended on time if not early! That rarely happens! So overall I thought the show was excellent!

Here are my five favorite moments of the show:
5. Making fun of John Travolta ~ We all remember last year when Travolta introduced Idina Menzel as Adele Dazeem, it is something that will follow them for the rest of their lives. Well this year Menzel announced Travolta with some weird name and then he cam out on the stage and it was hilarious!! That is...until he wouldn't stop touching her face...then things just got awkward. So this is one of my favorite moments from the Oscars because it was really funny especially because they were making fun of something that was really awkward and then it was just made even more awkward!

4. Birdman Tribute ~ I loved NPH's little skit where he was in the same stuck position at Riggan was in Birdman and then walked through the halls with people talking his picture, told Miles Teller (who was playing the drums) that it wasn't quite his tempo, and then walked out on the stage in his whitey tighties to awkwardly introduce Miles Teller and Margot Robbie as the next presenters. I thought it was hilarious!! And appropriate considering that Birdman won Best Picture! Yay!!
3. The Opening Musical Number ~ When you have Neil Patrick Harris hosting you know that you are going to get a musical number! It's pretty much a guarantee! I don't think NPH has ever done a bad musical number. This one was great too! Click here to watch it (even though its horrible quality). I wish that he would have done at least one more musical number! That's his forte!
2. Steve Carell ~ I loved this whole bit when NPH goes around talking to the seat fillers. I think they had to make a point of it because of the joke about Octavia Spencer that comes along later in the show. But when NPH walked up to Steve Carell I knew it was going to be funny and I was not disappointed! I think Steve Carell was very relaxed last night because I think he knew he wasn't going to win, which is sad but at least he could enjoy himself! I couldn't find the video for this so if you missed it I'm sorry! You are missing out!
1. J.K. Simmons ~ J.K. Simmons was my favorite part of The Oscars. (By the way, the J.K. stands for Jonathan Kimble. What a great name!) For some reason he is showing up on a lot of worst dressed lists but I thought he looked great! Especially with the fedora and pocket watch! He is keeping it old school! First off I'm thrilled that he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor! He so deserves it and I'm so happy that he received that kind of recognition for his role in Whiplash. Second, he wins best speech of the night! He got straight to the point with the people he wanted to thank and then he delivered an inspiring message to the audience and viewers. That was quite a way to start off the show!
Emma Stone gets an honorable mention though for this. She is adorable and I wish she would have won but I would be this excited too if I got a Lego Oscar statue!
Like I said before, I thought the show was great! I know that there are lot of people that are upset about NPH's job as a host but I loved him! Being the host of The Academy Awards is a tough job! The host is always hated on unless it's Billy Crystal and I'm sure he still got a lot of hate too! So you can't please everybody. But this year I was very happy with how the show was run.

I will be back twice this week to talk about my best and worst dressed choices and also to talk about my thoughts about the winners!
