Since Tuesdays post was a bit crazy I thought I would do more of a fun post today! So I'll be sharing my thoughts on my three favorite animated movies of the year!
You can click on the movie picture to go to the IMDb page.
Of course Disney and DreamWorks must have their big blockbuster animated films of the year! I really enjoyed both movies too!
I guess how can you not enjoy an animated movie from one of those two studios but this year was different. Disney didn't do a big princess movie (which I am very thankful for because I am SO over Frozen) and I really liked the change! There weren't any sappy love songs, it was just a pleasant growing up/saving the world story.
Parts of Big Hero 6 did seem a bit dark for a kids movie but luckily they didn't last long. When my half-sister-in-law (who is 6) saw the movie she told me to watch it because she loved it but also that there were three scary and sad parts but it would be okay. And the sad parts really were pretty sad, but Disney does always have to pull at the heart string to suck you into a movie.
It's not very surprising to see that Disney is pushing Big Hero 6 just like they are pushing Frozen. There are Baymax balloons all over Disneyland. Luckily Big Hero 6 didn't have any annoying songs that are practically on repeat anywhere you go (I'm talking about you "Let it Go"). So there isn't too much over kill.
Although I enjoyed Big Hero 6 it's #3 on my animated favorites list. But I would definitely recommend watching it! Especially if you have kids!

My second favorite animated movie from this year is How to Train Your Dragon 2. I loved the first How to Train Your Dragon movie! And you know how sequels can be...they never quite live up to the standards that the first movie set. But I actually enjoyed this movie more than I did the first one! That's a rarity!
I liked the story line and of course it was pretty funny. I think that How to Train Your Dragon 2 is higher on my list because I really like the characters in the movie. I probably liked it more than the first movie because you get to learn more about the characters and their background.
Again, definitely a must see, especially if you have kids!

Now onto my favorite of the year!
I'm just going to start by saying that I am very disappointed that The Lego Movie did not get nominated for Best Animated Movie for the Academy Awards. It was by far my favorite animated movie from the year!
When the nominations came out people were definitely upset it wasn't nominated. I saw a lot of discussions about how "maybe it wasn't nominated because there were some live action parts". But then I read somewhere that an animated movie has to be 70% animation to be considered for an Academy Award...but the only part of the movie where it's not animated was maybe only 10 minutes long, so I don't get it.
But at least the song "Everything is Awesome" is nominated! Yes it is a bit annoying but nowhere near as annoying as "Let it Go". The song will more than likely not win because it is a strong category this year. But at least the movie received a little bit of recognition!
For those who haven't heard the song or for those of you that want to hear it again...here you go:

The Lego Movie was easily my favorite of the year. It's very funny, punny, and such a cute movie! You definitely have to watch it! If you are like me, you will be laughing through the whole thing! The Lego Movie is definitely one that I will be owning.
I hope you enjoyed todays post! At least it was more uplifting than my previous couple of posts! Let me know what you thought about these three movies!
Next weeks post MIGHT have a special guest...it's still a work in progress.
Thank you for stopping by today! Hopefully you will come back again to check out what is coming next week! There's only three more weeks until the Academy Awards!! And there's still so many movies to talk about!
