What? Just? Happened? I can't even...let's just start with the trailer...
This movie. I just have to start off by saying that I actually had no intention of watching this movie. I heard from so many people that it was just a crazy movie so I never planned on watching it. Until I went over to my grandparents house for dinner two Sundays ago. We were hanging out and talking and then all of a sudden my grandpa decided to put on a movie, he also refused to tell us which one because it was a surprise. Soon enough I realized he had picked Interstellar. I wasn't thrilled about it, neither was Shawn, but we decided to give it a shot.
I'll be honest, the first hour and a half, maybe hour and forty five minutes, was fantastic. I actually loved it! It was a very intriguing story and it was definitely a good way to set up everything for the rest of the movie.
Just a heads up, if you get motion sickness very easily be aware that you will get dizzy watching this movie. Some of the scenes in this movie are just crazy and don't even make sense with how dizzying they are. So be careful!
For those that don't want to read the spoilers just know that I should have listened to all the people who told me Interstellar was a crazy movie. It really got crazy and I'm still not entirely sure what happened. Just know that Interstellar is a Sci-Fi chick-flick. Who knew??? When you watch the movie you will understand what I mean. I was definitely not expecting it.
This is one of those "one and done" movies. I have no plans to watch it again. At least not for a very long time.
For the Academy Awards Interstellar is nominated for Original Score, Production Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects. One of my biggest pet-peeves is when movies like this, where it is clearly a majority of CGI, gets nominated for Cinematography. It is very clear that in Interstellar it's pretty much all CGI so I am proud of the Academy for not nominating it for Cinematography. It wouldn't surprise me if it won for Visual Effects, it's not a very strong category this year.
If you are okay with reading spoilers feel free to read ahead but if you don't want to read any spoilers then I thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed reading some of my thoughts on Interstellar! Leave a comment below and let me know what you thought about Interstellar! Especially if you liked it! Please comment and tell me why!!

Okay now onto the spoilers, this movie just takes a fast right turn into crazy town when the crew decides to go to Dr. Mann's planet. The only reason I kept holding on to the idea that maybe it would be okay was because they cast Matt Damon as Dr. Mann. I think that was brilliant planning on the casting directors part because Matt Damon typically plays a very trusting character. I seriously thought "now Matt Damon is here so this should start to make more sense!"
NOPE! Definitely not. Again, brilliant decision by the casting director because I never would have expected Matt Damon to just start killing people! I just never would have expected that.
Also the whole part where Matt Damon blows up himself, his own ship, and part of the main spaceship hub I understand. But when Cooper and Brand just start spinning through space and hook on to the main hub and then they get on the ship and, yes the alarms are going off but, everything is all fine and dandy and they are still able to fly it. Really?
Next crazy thing- "Ya I'm just gonna send myself into a black hole. Everything will be fine. Brand, I'm sure you can manage this spaceship that originally took four people and two robots to control. Go find the love of your life and save us!" -Cooper
How stupid. And not only did he survive the black hole...he also found some strange creation that "they" made to stalk every single second of Murph's life in her bedroom. But lets not freak out about that...because wait! There's more!
After about two days of constantly thinking about this movie and what everything meant, Shawn and I finally figured it out. Love is greater than gravity. That is literally the whole point to the movie. Love is greater than gravity. Seriously?! I spent 169 minutes watching what I thought was a Sci-Fi movie but turned out to be a Sci-Fi chick flick. I think everyone was doubting that Matthew McConaughey would ever do another chick-flick but here we go! A Sci-Fi chick-flick. Who knew??
And now the part of the movie that annoyed me the most - when he finally gets back to, now old, Murph (and generations of family members that don't even acknowledge that this "amazing" hero is in their presence) he just leaves her...on her death bed...to go find Anne Hathaway. Through the whole movie he beats himself up about abandoning her and then he is finally reunited with her and then leaves again. It just doesn't make sense. Well the last hour of this movie doesn't make sense so I don't know why I was expecting it to make sense.
This movie was just seriously crazy. To whoever is reading this, I hope you agree. But if you don't please, please, please tell me why! I really want to know why some people truly enjoyed this movie because I just don't get it.
Thank you for reading todays post! I'll see you again on Friday (I promise it will be a fun post on Friday)!
