I figured that since I've been missing for a little while I should do a little bit of both posts today. These posts are also a lot shorter than my other posts too so at least it will be a quick read.
What I'm Watching Wednesday
These were the months we were mostly in Vanocuver so there wasn't very much movie watching going on because there was so much to do in Portland. But here's the little list anyways:
Aloha
Spy
Funny People
Inside Out
Magic Mike
August
I'm going to be honest, I didn't watch very many movies in August. And there is a reason but I'm not very proud of it. I got addicted to Gossip Girl. Anytime I spent using Netflix was to watch Gossip Girl, or House of Cards. So the only movies I watched (at least that I can remember) are:
Escape From LA
The Fault in Our Stars
Leap Year
September
September was Shawn's busy month for travel season so I was alone for most of the week. This led to September being chick flick month and that's just fine with me!
Take Care
6 Years
PS I Love You
The Best of Me
Please Subsribe
You're Not You
Shakespeare in Love
October
I know I'm missing some movies from this month but Shawn and I just couldn't remember what else we watched.
Mad Max: Fury Road
Catching Faith (we were bored, don't judge)
Shutter's Island
Little Miss Sunshine
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Snowpiercer
Hercules
Clock Work Orange (but we didn't finish it because I didn't like it)
Silence of the Lambs
Super Bad
October Movie Review
When I first saw the trailer for Mad Max I had zero interest in seeing it. I just didn't know anything about it and it looked to dramatic for me. But Shawn kept talking about it and he told me it was from the same director of Babe and Happy Feet so I finally broke down and agreed to watch it so we rented it on Amazon. I was still hesitant about watching it but within the first five minutes I was completely hooked. Have you seen Mad Max yet? If you haven't then you need to watch it. Charlize Theron, Nicholas Holt and the beautiful Tom Hardy are the main characters. So that's an automatic win right there. Then you add in the amazing costumes, make up, special effects and clever screenplay and BOOM, it's one of my favorites of the year so far. I've been wanting to watch it again but we are waiting until Black Friday to buy it. I highly recommend watching Mad Max. I really hope that it gets at least three Oscar nomination (make up, costume design and special effects or maybe cinematography because that's what The Academy does).
On a side note, The Academy recently announced that Chris Rock will be the host this year at The Oscars. I was/still am very disappointed with this news. There is just something about him that I really don't like. Maybe it's the raunchiness or maybe it's the fact that he always sounds like he is yelling. Either way I'm not entirely looking forward to this years Oscars with him as the host. Last year was surprisingly disappointing with Neil Patrick Harris (although I did love the musical numbers) and the year before with Ellen was just a little awkward to me. Maybe Chris Rock will actually surprise me but I'm not holding my breathe.
I'll be back next week and I hope you will be too!
