This will probably be shocking to most people but up until very recently I had never seen any of the Harry Potter movies. *GASP* I know! I felt like I was part of a very small, but special, group of people who lived under a rock.
BUT now I am happy to say that I have now seen all of them!

The reason I never saw the movies when they were in theatres (and also why I never read the books) was because I wasn't allowed to. Being raised in a very Catholic household my parents didn't exactly approve of the witch craft aspect of the stories. Then by the time I was allowed to watch them I just lost interest because all of the movies had already been released so there wasn't so much hype around it anymore and I just lost interest.
But then a month or two ago Shawn and I couldn't decide on a movie to watch and he suggested starting the Harry Potter series. At first I wasn't sure but then I agreed. And I'm so happy I did!
Now I understand the hype surrounding these movies. I understand why, all those years ago when the movies came out, people were obsessed over them. Of course I haven't read the books yet but I can only imagine the effect they have on junior high aged children, or maybe older or younger. I don't even think my parents should have been worried about the witch craft part of the story because there is so much more to it than just that!
Shawn and I started the series during the week and were finished by Sunday. I just wanted to stay up all night and watch them all! But I had to be a boring, responsible adult and be awake for work the follow days. So obviously I really enjoyed it!

It sounds a bit strange to say it but I can't wait for our future kids to watch these movies. It's almost going to be like a right of passage. Maybe with the generation gap they won't appreciate it as much but I could see Harry Potter being like the older Star Wars films (not the new ones because everyone agrees that they suck).
I know todays post is short and sweet but that's okay! I'll be back next Wednesday!
